Hello Di and John
We hope all is well with you both.
We realise it has been a while since we sent you an update, however, wanted to wait until we’d travelled to our French house which is where we currently are for two weeks.
Cali is doing really well. Her recall is a work in progress but we are making progress in the right direction. Everyone who meets her falls in love and she now has quite a wide fan base. She is such a great advert for rehoming a rescue that we make sure to tell everyone!
Her first ferry crossing to France definitely seemed more traumatic for us. She seemed to take it in her stride and sleep happily in the car in her crate whilst we worried about her. Thankfully it was nice and calm. After an overnight stop we had a long drive the following day as the ferry company use a different port in the winter. We stopped every two hours so we could all stretch our legs and have a comfort break. As we know from collecting her she just sleeps in the car.

The long journey was definitely worth it. When Cali was let loose in the garden in her French house she couldn’t believe her luck and had a really good run around.
She’s coped really well with the change, hopefully helped by having the same dog beds as at home in Guernsey and that already had her scent. The wood burner also seems to be a big hit.
She is still super quiet, we’ve only heard her bark about twice and definitely doesn’t like other barking dogs but otherwise seems to be a totally happy and healthy normal spaniel.
Thank you again for giving us the opportunity to provide her with her forever homes.
Take care
Jocelyn and Simon
