Hi all at CAESSR.

Just to let you know Doug has settled in well. He spends his days in the field or in the garden chasing balls and sticks. He loves being let off his lead to run free and has been to Delamere Forest and Tatton Park to meet friends with dogs. He enjoys the doggie company and tries to (and mostly does) out chase them. His recall is good, even when he is having a good sniff, he comes eventually!

We are delighted that Doug is a member of our family, we already can hardly remember how life was without him. Thanks go to CAESSR and his previous owners for giving us this opportunity. Here are some photos of Doug out and about and at home.

Hi Ian & Di

Well it’s been a year since we collected Tilly, and what a year, she and our other rescue Lucy made friends straight away and Tilly has never let her blindness get in her way. She enjoys the company and trips out also walks, she certainly makes the most of her life.

In fact we went on holiday to Wales last year, and after breakfast we used to all go out for days. Since being home Tilly has her breakfast then wants to go out into garden only to find and sit at rear of car, I have to put her in car and occasionally rock it and then I get her out and she comes back inside on her bed.

Me, Kay and our Springer Lucy have been enlightened and fulfilled with Till’s love and affection, and would encourage others to take on a disabled dog should they need homes, because their, trust and affection is never ending.

All the best

Hello both

Thought you might like a Monty update a month in.

He is such a sweet little chap and has proved himself to be delightfully cheeky! Playbowing in the morning when we first come down and stealing my socks from the laundry basket whenever it's left unattended. He has settled in beautifully with Spud - they now sleep on the same bed more often than not and he adores our dog walker, who they go to on days when we are both out. He recovered well from his neutering and is growing his coat back in very nice - his legs are becoming lovely and feathery!

So all well here - as attached photos show. Thank you for trusting us with him, he is a dear thing and we love him to bits.

Dear Di and all at Caessr,

Just thought I'd let you know how Jess is doing, we adopted her on Sunday 14th of February.

What a delightful little girl, she is very intelligent, keen to learn, full of affection, loves to meet people and dogs on walks. She's very obedient when out, sometimes shes goes in to hunting mode, but responds well to the whistle.

She loves chasing balls and carries them with her front teeth as though she is carrying her pups. I bet she made a lovely mum. Shes doing well in the house as well, still toilet training but going well. She has fitted well into her new family and loves her two brothers.

Hi there,

Just a quick update to let you know that Jimbob has settled in really well, better than we could have ever expected! He follows me around, takes the ball from my other spaniel (much to his annoyance!) and regularly empties all the toys out of the toybox so that he can choose what he wants!

When I was at home last week I took him to my parents' house each day so that he could get used to it. He was fine and stayed all day on Friday until I picked him up. He is a really happy boy and I am so glad we've taken him on.

He's currently on a course of tablets for an enlarged prostate, hopefully they'll do the trick. More news in due course.

Best wishes,

Shirley

Hi John,

Rupert's beginners class has finished.

He has completed his first Wainwright fell.

He is doing really well settled into his trips in the campervan and knows he sleeps on the floor....well most of the time!!!

Hi all at CAESSR,

Thank you for contacting me to make enquiries about Archie.

I am delighted to report that he has settled well and is giving both me and my family lots of pleasure. He has proved to be a very sociable and affectionate dog with lots of character.

Archie walks every day in the local parks or countryside with me or friends. He loves to chase a ball but is reluctant to give it back, preferring to bury it in fallen leaves – we have lost three balls so far and found two used ones. He loves his food and keeps to his original diet.

He is also still attached to his huge bean bag and blanket which came from his previous home. So far he has only travelled fairly short distances in the car but he is well-behaved and loves to play with my son’s springer spaniels.

Fortunately he has bonded well with my grandchildren who adore him and visit him on a daily basis. He is also popular with my friends who now ask me when I am going away so that he can go and stay with them!

Thank you again for getting in touch,

Pat

Hi Di and Ian,

During 33 years of marriage we have only ever taken in rescue dogs. The only parameters we ever set out were for a female and that she didn't moult. Having looked on all of the regular rescue sites for months and finding nothing suitable (or it had already been reserved) someone recommended CAESSR. I duly completed the appropriate form and regularly looked on the site as well as calling whenever I thought I saw something suitable. Di was amazing. She was aware of family circumstances and my daughter's female Springer so suggested a male would be a better fit. One Friday morning not so long ago Di called to say she thought Jake would be suitable. We were away for the weekend so arranged to 'pop' into the kennels to see him on our way home on the Monday.

Jake, a working cocker spaniel, was great and such a gorgeous boy. We hadn't even seen a picture of him but knew he was black, 10.5 months old with lots of character. The only negative aspect was pulling on the lead. Jake has been an absolute joy and fitted well into our family and even his boisterousness has been kept in check, when needed, by Holly the springer. We haven't had a dog that 'smiles' before so this is a first!

In order to get the best out of him and us we have a 121 session booked with a dog trainer and are really looking forward to that.

Thank you so much to the team at CAESSR for matching us so beautifully and giving us the chance to have such an incredible dog.

Kind regards

Dawn

Hello Ian and John,

Please find attached a photo of Scout (was Jasper) and Spike and Scout for the gallery and/or calendar.

Scout has settled in well with the others. He and Spike go on many adventures together! He is quite a vocal little Spaniel. Everything he does seems to be his "favourite thing" and his enthusiasm and energy are boundless. He is still very skinny but his energy levels and shiny coat make me believe that all is OK!!

Thank you for letting us adopt him.

Hi,

Here are the pictures as discussed with Di.

Trigger is settling in well we’ve had a few issues but no majors. When we go for a walk he responds well. He and Rafa, our American Cocker, are starting to find the buddy relationship - plenty of play fighting - very funny! Both dogs love to play with other dogs of all sizes on our walks.

Please reassure the previous owners that it looks like Trigger has found his forever home with Rafa

All the best

Craig

Hi Di,

Jimbob's first day has been a real success; he has settled in quickly and seems to be a happy dog! Hopefully we can build on this and give him a nice home.

Some photos attached, I will update you further soon.

Just a few lines to let you know that Scamp, adopted Sunday 31st January 2016, is doing well.

He has settled in, even the first night went undisturbed, He certainly has the right name. Something of a kleptomaniac who never stops but is enjoying life, as he should be. We can fully understand why he could not find a settled home, as you would expect he is very active and excitable to the point of not knowing when to switch off, after all he is still a puppy. The only slight problem was that for the first two days our Border Collie, Ben, was not keen on sharing his toys but now they share and are always playing, we now have a completely mad housed that includes the humans. He is clean inside his home and given the shortness of time very obedient.

Can I just say that we were impressed with your vetting process not only did you look to the needs of the dog but very much to the needs of the new owners - well done. We are looking forward to many years of enjoyment.

It might be of interest for you to know that our vet was very impressed with what he called the quality of Scamp.

I have attached two photograph one of Scamp relaxing and one with his new friend Ben.

Thanks for your help in finding the right dog and a new home for Scamp.

Hello Di

Charlie is absolutely adorable, he just wants to be with us all the time, he was as good as gold in the car travelling back from the kennels, and we didn't hear a peep from him last night.

He and Bob are getting on very well and having great fun charging around the garden with an old football and an old rugby ball.

Charlie has also decided he prefers to sit on a settee than in a dog bed, but we're well used to that.

Thank you for organizing everything for us.

Best wishes

Pauline

Evening,

We've just seen the letter posted by Bella and Oscar's new owners, Caroline and Paul.

We are so pleased they are settling in and being the dogs that we knew and love. We have been very worried about them and thinking about how they were doing. Seeing them in the photos and hearing that they, especially Bella, are up to their old tricks has reassured us. And although sad for us it is fantastic for them. Thank you for your support with finding the perfect home for them.

If appropriate please forward our thanks to Caroline and Paul.

Hi Ian, ere are a few snaps of florins birthday today. She is doing well now, perfect teeth, good weight and building muscle. Sadly the poor poppet has developed cataracts in both eyes as well as her other ailments but she is a happy as can be, very very spoilt! Some even call her princess florin!

Couldn't get a picture of her with her cake, it was gone before I got the camera out! These are her with her new bed and presents, falling asleep in the chair after the beach.

Thanks,

Megan, Chris and Florin

Dear Ian

We would like to let the previous owners of Oscar and Bella, who came to us on Saturday 30 January 2016, that they are settling in very well. They are absolutely gorgeous and are being very good.

They are eating well and really enjoying the garden. Bella had four dips in the pond on her first day (entirely of her own choosing) but now tends to look at it more than go in ! She also likes taking my shoes to have a look at the pond ! But always brings them back (dry) !

Oscar like Bella is really enjoying the garden and walks in the New Forest. We are limiting the walks to the forest enclosure across the road from us so that they get used to one area first. Back at home, Bella has been showing us her impressive football moves and has amused us by playing "football" with one of her harder balls on the terrace.

I am attaching a selection of photos. I will try to improve my photography so that I can get some better shots of them but hopefully those attached get across that they are settling in and are greatly loved.

Kind regards

Caroline and Paul

Hi John, Di, and all at CAESSR

It’s me, Boo (was Boosh) checking in after three years in my forever home and wishing you all well for 2016.

Mum and Dad’s training continues almost to perfection. They feed me well and give me lots of treats as well as nice long walks down the lane (still chasing birds and squirrels but haven’t caught any, yet ….) and along by the river close to home, but they weren’t too pleased when I rolled in some fox poo. But hey, they have a spaniel and that’s what spaniels do. I’m still working on them to let me sleep on their bed at night (without any success) but I have managed to make the settee my own. And they think they own the house!

My playmate Dora still comes to see me just about every day when her mum is at work. We still get on very well and even share the same bed at times. So, as you can see, I still continue to enjoy my time in my forever home and I would, again, like to thank everyone at CAESSR who worked so hard to find me such a loving family to live with.

Boo
