Hello to Everyone at Caessr!

Another Summer is coming to a close and I'm four years old now. I've been in my forever home for two and a half years and life is fantastic!

This year has been a bit of an adventure for us, as my Mom and Dad bought a motorhome so we can all spend our holidays together. Mom says I get really excited when they get the keys out and I like to help with the packing. After all, it's really important that they don't forget my toys and my bed! I love bursting out of the door to explore the new places we visit, but Mom and Dad always try to make sure we're by the sea, a lake or river because getting wet is my favourite thing! Apparently, even on the sunniest and driest of days I can sniff out a patch of wetness from miles away!

We have just come home from a week by the beach. I spent my days rolling in the sand and chasing those pesky seagulls away. I'm sure they were taunting me, as I was always just a few inches off their tails. One day, seagulls...

My life is full to bursting! In between weekends away, I still like to keep a check on the cadets, visit my Mom and Dad's band, and love going into school with Mom. Now everyone knows me, she lets me off to play with the children in the playground and I get to wander around the classrooms. I always seem to get plenty of extra treats when I go there!

My Mom and Dad are always telling me how gorgeous I am and how lucky they are to have me in their lives. My special job is looking after my Mom while my Dad works away and making sure she is OK. We snuggle up together on the sofa and there is nothing better than curling up under the duvet to go to sleep. I am very clever too, and have been helping some Springer puppies learn how to behave themselves when they are out and about.

I can't tell you how loved and happy I am, but I hope my pictures show you what a fabulous life I have now, thanks to you! We Spaniels are very lucky to have such a dedicated group looking out for our interests!

Thank you Caessr,

Love and sloppy kisses,

Archie xx (30-08-2014)

John,

Honey is an absolute delight. She settled in almost immediately, went to Alfie's basket the first night and I didn't hear a peep until the next morning.

As you said she pulls on the lead but Jane introduced me to a 'Canny collar' which has worked wonders. She was off the lead on the common within a week and comes immediately when called.

Her only fault is that she doesn't understand that FOUR paws belong on the ground!

All my friends think she is very beautiful. I think I have struck the Jackpot with her.

Thanks to you and CAESSR.

Regards

Hi John

Sorry for the delay in writing.

Bracken is settling in well with Mark and I, and Mark is going to send some photos via Facebook link. We are due to go away for a week in September so we are going to have him neutered when we get back.

He is a lovely, loving dog. We haven't had him off the lead much yet, not took the plunge, but he is a happy healthy dog who loves the park and Suzy has given him the seal of approval too!!

Kind Regards

Hi CAESSR...

One year on (31st august) since we adopted Max.

At the time he was quite anxious and unsure of lots of things. Now he is a vital part of our family and we love him dearly.

He adores the children and he gets lots of attention back from them, playing ball is his favourite thing to do! He is happy, really well behaved and very spoilt, but he deserves it.

A big thank you to you all.

Hi,

Monty has settled in very well, he likes playing ball games in the garden and would catch and fetch all day.

He still has a problem when meeting other dogs, but after a session at the Lincoln university dog behavioural centre, it is controllable.

Monty generally is very well trained and a great and loving companion to both myself and wife Suzan.

Please find attached just 2 photos that we have.

Many thanks

Hi John and Di

It has now been over a month since we brought Charlie home.

He seemed a little excitable for the first few days, but soon settled in with the help of Bella, our older dog. He is a very happy, loving dog, full of life and energy and has brought a huge amount of joy and love to us all!

He and Bella have loads of fun playing catch with the ball or tug of war with the rope toys. He then collapses on your knee, with his paws around your neck & falls fast asleep as if butter wouldn't melt in his mouth!

He is attending obedience classes and is the star pupil (as well as the prettiest boy there of course). Am attaching some photos so his previous owners can see that he is well cared for, happy & loved, and thank them for the gift of such a lovely boy. I can only imagine how sad they must have been to let him go.

Will keep you updated with pics etc.

Thanks

Dear John & Co,

Well it’s almost a year since you rehoused me with these folks from Cambridgeshire and I thought I ought to send you an update.

I’m exceedingly well, full of energy as befits a Springer of my years, they have me on regular anti-worm etc. which as they put it on my back I really don’t worry about.

They feed me well and regularly give me walks, I prefer the one by the Great Ouse as I have realised that I can swim, it took me a while but I really enjoy it especially on hot days. It stops him moaning about the mud in his car if I wash it off before getting back in.

If I have one complaint about them they don’t play with me enough, I mean I wait until he gets up and then he keeps wanting to stop for food and coffee and work!

I really don’t know why they don’t keep up a regular supply of tennis balls, I mean they last a whole half hour before I’ve got the cover off and the rubber in bits, not good enough. Kong toys take me a lot longer to get through.

Otherwise they love me and I love them, I really don’t miss having to work for my living at all.

Best wishes and licks all round

Hello Everyone at Caessr,

Just a small update on how MOSS is getting on.

We can't believe it's been exactly one year to the day since we collected him from you. The time has gone so quickly and we just cannot imagine being without him. He is such a lovely affectionate boy and I must say a real 'Mummy's' boy. He follows me everywhere (and I mean everywhere!!!).

We have just come back from a family camping holiday which he really enjoyed, especially the lovely walks across fields and parks and meeting lots of new doggy friends.

All the best to you all,

Mandy, Pete, Harvey and Matthew (12-08-2014)

Hi,

It is hard to believe that it is 10 months since we collected Bolt and Mimi from the kennels. Time really does fly when you are enjoying yourself.

They are both fine and doing very well – and getting on well together now that Mimi has explained the rules to Bolt. They are both a credit to their previous owners as they are clean, never mess in the house and have been well trained. It made our lives much easier in that they settled in so well and so quickly. We had a 5 hour journey back from Stoke and they both managed it with no problem – even Mimi straight after her operation.

Mimi is a very well “organised “young lady and knows exactly what she wants and when she wants it – and not adverse to giving you a gentle nudge if she thinks her dinner or walk is overdue! She also has a very definite “look” which lets you know you have slipped up somewhere and failed to meet her expectations.

Bolt is, well he is Bolt – he is a great character and a source of endless amusement. He adopted me from day 1 and he rarely leaves my side – luckily I work from home so he spends his day lying on the floor next to my desk although now the weather is warmer – if not exactly dry – he does go wandering around the garden and barking at the neighbours, chasing the pigeons and watching for a rat that materialised in the garden.

Bolt developed a skin condition not long after we got him, so his thick curly coat was trimmed off and we treated his skin for a while. All is fine now, in fact he was much livelier after the trim and I think he was too hot so we are keeping his coat shorter now as he seems happy that way.

We spent a week in Norfolk recently on a National Trust property and they both had a great time - rushing across the fields and through the woods. We “lost “ Mimi for nearly 2 hours one morning after she slipped out under the hedge when we were not looking. I was panicking and fearing the worst, but while I was out searching for her she sauntered back into the garden, covered head to foot in mud and wondering what all the fuss was about. We took them to the beach in Cromer and Bolt went into the surf – I am not sure if he had ever seen the sea before as he seemed a bit surprised by it all. Mimi kept her distance, not wanting to get her paws wet ! More recently Bolt ventured into the water at a local lake and with some encouragement swam around for a bit. Mimi also had a swim – so it is good to know that neither is afraid of the water.

Thanks once again for putting Bolt and Mimi in our lives and an inspired choice to pair them up together, although some days Mimi might wish she was alone here.

I have attached a few photos of the Dynamic Duo posing and hard at work ! –

Regards

Hello Ian

My family fostered Biggie (now called Buddy) back in June.

Having read out loud your request for photos of CAESSR dogs for next year's calendar, my 9 year old son has been attempting to take the 'perfect picture' He snapped this one today, and although I realise it's probably not what you're looking for, my son has asked that I forward it to you.

Otherwise Buddy is doing really well. He's fitted right in to our football crazy family as he is quite nifty on the ball.

We also learned from his vet records that he is 11 years 10 months old not 10 years as originally thought.

Buddy loves the children and prefers to sleep in one of their bedrooms rather than with our other cocker in our room.

He truly is a gift. Keep up the good work.

Kind regards

Marie

Hiya John & Pat! I picked Teal ( now Basil ) up from yourselves on July 22nd and what an absolutely wonderful member of our family he's become!

You described him in "Dogs needing Homes " as " He likes to be close to his humans" - Well I would say that's an understatement! He just adores everyone! Me especially I'm pleased to say! My two Cockers get on with him like a house on fire and he's just stating to learn how to play with them! I remember I offered him a little treat when I first met him and he didn't know what a treat was! He was obviously treated kindly in his ten years as a working gun dog, but he was there to do a job and not be treated as a pet! Well - I'm successfully changing all that and lying on the furniture and taking treats are now second nature to him!!

On his walks - he works the fields and woods just like the true professional he must have been in his working days, but as soon as he gets back home, he's the softest, most loveable little darling I've ever had the pleasure to encounter! I utterly adore him and to see my lovely Spaniel " Trio " enjoying themselves in the woods is the biggest tonic I could ever wish for!!!

Attached one photo of Basil and one with his new best friends - Lemmy and Freddie!!

Thanks so much for making my family complete & for all you do!!
