Hi John

Well Poppy has fully recovered from the tumour operation on her back and is now back to her energetic self again. We have just returned from a holiday in Suffolk which she has thoroughly enjoyed as you can see from the attached photo's.

She loves water and gave us one heart stopping moment on holiday when she sped full speed ahead and launched herself off the Quay at Beccles then couldn't get out because of the high sides of the quayside resulting in Eric having to lie down on his tummy and drag her up out of the water by her collar. Note to self will buy her a buoyancy aid with a handle on it for future visits.

She continues to be a delight we love her to bits.

Regards

Debra and Eric

Dusty’s Diary

Well I’ve been with my new family 2 weeks now and thought I’d update you with all my news. I live in a house the countryside with “Rags” she’s a 5 year old Jack Russell Border Collie cross who keeps me in my place when I get Boisterous! We like each other though and go on long walks together running in the fields, on the tracks and in the rivers and ponds, sometimes I get very wet but that’s OK because I get dried when we get home and I like that.

Busby is the house cat and he’s definitely in charge, we are getting used to each other but he is very cautious with me.

Murphy is an African Grey Parrot who talks all the time and I bark at it when it says my name.

I’ve visited the farm and met the 5 Jack Russells who are very playful and run very fast, I’ve also met the horses they are very big and scare me a bit but I’m sure I’ll get used to them soon.

I’ve met Cows and Sheep in the fields, on one of my walks.

I go walking with a group of dogs which my Mom calls, “The Pack”, today there were 8 dogs of all breeds, it’s great fun and I like chasing sticks.

I still like food very much and I’m learning not to steal it, (but the Bacon Sandwich I stole earlier this week was very nice, (well they shouldn’t have left it unattended on a low table).

That’s’ all for now, I’ll be in touch again soon.

Hi Ian & John,

Danny here, you know that scatty ex-police dog with a passion for tennis balls. Yes I’m still destroying them whenever I can and chasing about fit as ever.

My second year with these two has been pretty good, I keep going up to the coast to run on the beach, I even go up in the middle of winter! It’s fabulous, there are so few other dogs trying to get my ball!

Despite being bred by the police my original breed characteristics have now come through. We had the ‘Secret Garden Party’ across the road a couple of weeks ago and I keep flushing out these ‘birds’

These two are making me earn my keep though, I have to go and see people who want to take on looking after my cousins, you wouldn’t believe the last ones, I did everything to put them off and they lapped it up. I even pinched one of his Bonsai Trees and they LAUGHED!

Must be losing my touch somewhere. Now they say that you would like some pictures for next years calendar well I’ve picked these two which show my studious intelligent side, well it fools them anyway. He would like you to include the one he sent you last christmas, if you must!

He has started a website, www.skithegap.co.uk, for selling some of his pictures, none of me so they aren’t that good, oops he’s looking, anyway on the front page of his website it says that for every picture sold through the website he will make a donation of £1, whatever that is, to your funds.  Hope to see my aristocratic face in next years calendar.

Licks all round

Danny

Good afternoon.

Just a quick message to let you know that Sandy has fitted right into the madhouse that is our home! I seem to spend a lot of time either at the park, at the beach or on the hill overlooking the city. Most days we manage all three. Sandy's operation seems to have solved the prostate issue, so less there has been less drama! Although the groomer may disagree...

We took Sandy on holiday at the beginning of August and he had fun. The cottage opened out onto the Solway, so there were seabirds to harass, rabbits to skedaddle and tussocks to jump.

Sandy and his new big brother,Max are gradually getting to know each other. They can now share a crate when travelling and have been known to snuggle together. Max is trying to prove that at 11 & a bit he can do all the things a 3 year old can. (but sometimes he can get a bit tired and grumpy..) Max is also now a lot less fussy in food department. Sandy wolfs his food at record pace and is partial to tripe, herring, erm everything really.

The kids adore Sandy and his new bed seems to be across the legs of our eldest daughter! So much for the not on the bed thing...

We are working on Sandy's recall as he has spaniel selective hearing!! He is fine unless there are birds, dogs, etc etc....He is a destroyer of tennis balls. Much to Max's disgust.

Oh and Sandy likes to sleep cuddling Rocky the Raccoon. Thank you to his previous owners for allowing us to get to know this gorgeous boy and welcome him into our family.

Thank you to CAESSR for old you do to find homes for these lovely dogs.

Best wishes

Karen

Dear Ian

We received the email requesting photos for the 2016 calendar We know that the attached photo is too small for the calendar but we wanted to send you one of Millie, who we got from you late last year and who appeared with her pups on the 2015 calendar.

Millie is proving the perfect companion and has fitted into our lives so well down here in Hampshire. She is loving and obedient, good with other dogs and with small children – hence the photo of her with our six month old granddaughter. Her coat has recovered beyond recognition after having her pups and she is full of energy. We could not ask for a nicer dog! The three of us are off to Suffolk at the end of next month for a walking holiday which I’m sure we’ll all enjoy.

We have your CAESSR sticker on our car to advertise your good work and wish you all the best.

Many thanks.

Jane and David

Leo’s first day, went to check out the local area, plenty of new smells, trees and bushes, was allowed off the lead, had fun searching in the long grass and running around.

Met some new friends, didn’t play i was busy keeping an eye on my new owner.

Hope you don’t mind me sending these pics of Leo’s first venture out. We had lots of play and recall/ commands in the garden. Leo is very attentive towards me, he walked well on the lead and when we got to the open field which was empty I thought it was a good opportunity to test his recall. Well he never went far from me and was keeping an eye on me.

Leo had a good time. He has become very tactile and a little vocal even tried to climb on my lap. guess who has got a big smile on his face :-)

Thank you.

Trevor

Hello to everyone at Caessr!

Archie here - I'm five and a half now, and have been in my forever home for three and a half years. Time flies when you're having fun, doesn't it?!

Well, this year has been a particularly exciting one for me! I have a new Spangle brother (well, kind of like an honorary dad)!! He's called Charlie and he's nearly fourteen years old. He used to have a special job in a prison, so he's very clever! I have to look after him now as he's got dodgy hips, whatever they are!

So, Charlie and I are now officially international travellers. We decided to take our Mom, Dad and brother off to Europe on our holidays this year, as the warm weather and warm water is good for Charlie's hips (or that's what we told them anyway!). We got our passports and off we went! France, Belgium, Luxembourg, Switzerland and finally Italy. We ran, swam, kayaked, played... Oh what an amazing time we had! Our mom and dad even took us to Venice. We were so glad to have our special cooling coats there as it was rather warm! We're planning where to go next year now!

Thanks Caessr for finding me my forever home - who knows what my life would have been like if you hadn't found me?

Love and sloppy licks to all,

Archie (and Charlie)

Just an update on Finn's progress,

A massive thank you to CAESSR for helping us to adopt Finn so quickly. Since he joined us a month ago he has had a hectic schedule: an image transformation (see attached hair cut), plenty of days out and bit by bit met the whole family. He has settled in well and finally starting to sleep through the night (and not in my bed!). He has adapted to life well in our household and has very much taken over! He's a beautiful cocker, with a very cheeky personality: we've all taken to protecting our socks and slippers. He's still learning to cope with strangers and other dogs, and he's continued his hatred of cats; but overall he's settled in really well and is loved by all of our family.

Thanks

Emma

To the previous owners of Jess,

Many thanks for the notes which you so kindly provided – they were a great help in getting to know and understand Jess as she joined us….

After some initial days of uncertainty on the part of our resident dog (Alfie), Jess and ourselves, we have now all settled down into a routine of which Jess is very much a part. Jess has become the more dominant dog, but in a fairly quiet unassuming way, and the occasional playful ‘tiffs’ between the dogs are always settled amicably.

She has fitted in very well and has settled in so quickly that it seems as though she has always been with us. Initially she did want to be a ‘lap dog’ but as we have not allowed Alfie to climb onto settees, chairs, laps etc. (due to his size) we had to insist that Jess also follow suit. She learned this very quickly and enjoys plenty of cuddles and tummy tickles at ‘ground level’.

She has a great appetite and there have been no signs of any problems resulting from the thorn injury to her paw - she is in good health and extremely fast and fit!

Jess enjoys walks in the fields around our house, where both dogs go scenting after rabbit trails. Her recall is good, she is obedient and understands most of the verbal commands we use for Alfie. She enjoys playing the same games of hide and seek, fetch, searching for rabbits and of course any game which includes a ball – including golf balls, tennis balls, footballs, and a Kong extreme ball – indeed, anything round – including fallen apples!

Jess has proved herself to be a more confident guard dog than Alfie and although she does bark if she hears unusual noises she has not whined or barked excessively and has taken her new routines and surroundings in her stride. She sleeps well, snores loudly and, once she has settled in front of the TV, resists being moved from her position and, on occasions, has to be lifted to her bed!

For his part, Alfie has accepted Jess into his domain and very much enjoys her companionship. In return, her quiet, confident nature has allowed Alfie to mature over the last few weeks. Jess has a lovely, gentle nature and has quickly found her place both in our home and in our hearts.

Morning Di

Just thought you would like to know how well Isla has settled in after a month with us. She is a real joy to have around, and after an initial touch of aloofness on Robbie's part they are now real mates running together and being constantly at each others side. Isla has had quite a month of experiences, two of our grandchilden came to stay and we all went off to Anglesey for four days where the two dogs just ran and ran on the wonderful beaches, splashing in and out of the sea.

We have also introduced her to agility and she very quickly mastered the jumps and delighted in the seesaw which incidentally we bought for the agility club in memory of out previous springer Jess. All our friends in the agility club think we have been very fortunate to adopt her and can't believe she is five tears old!

Our home now seems complete again.Thank you.

Kind regards

Charles & Sandra
