Hi Di, John, Ann

It's Arran here. I am settling in really well. We spent the first half of the week at home doing nothing but walks and playing with Oscar and Minnie. On Tuesday we went to the vet to get registered and Mr Shilladay had a look at my stitches and took them out. He said I was a lovely little dog and was very pleased with me and said that no doubt I will build muscle with all the walking I will be doing.

On Wednesday afternoon we decided to go through to our caravan at North Berwick it is at the seaside I was able to play on the beach with Oscar and we had loads of fun jumping in and out of the water. The caravan was great as I could watch the rabbits and the humans walking by all day and night. We also walked up a huge hill called the Law it has a whale jaw bone at the top. We are now home again chilling in front of the log burner. I am so glad to be here.

Speak soon

Arran xx

Hi All,

Hope you are all well?

Cannot believe where the time is going and 6 weeks in and Dexter is now doing very well and a lot more settled.

Feels like he has been with us a lot longer and loving his early morning walks and curling up next to Merlin.

Will keep all posted in next coming months and thanks to all for all your hard work and dedication

Kind Regards

Duncan, Lisa, Merlin and Dexter

Hi John

Hope you are well. Just wanted to drop a line to say how happy and proud we are of Missy. She has made such a huge difference to our family and fits right in!

She has had her health issues but we think that (at last, fingers crossed) we have got to the real issue. We are very lucky that we are under the guidance of Sue Patterson now (a world known specialist dermatology and allergies) as we were visiting our normal vet almost daily as they could not find the issue. Missy is allergic to grass pollen, then weed pollen and almost anything you can think of really, but thankfully we are getting there.

We are very lucky that every morning we go out for a couple of hours and Missy often comes across rabbits, deer, ducks and squirrels which she loves to chase if she gets the chance. We are lucky as now, as a family we are extremely fit as we are out for at least 3.5 - 4 hours per day.

Please can you let her owners know that we now have Missy off lead with dogs a lot and there are no problems. Little dogs can sometimes be an issue but not at all now. I cannot recommend enough the Dogs Trust behaviourists who do one to one sessions if people contact them- the charge goes straight back into the Trust, so it benefits other dogs also.

Thanks again for letting Missy come and live with us.

Regards

Maria and Missy x

Hi Di,

I thought I’d just drop you a line to let you know how Tilly’s going on.

We’ve had an enjoyable summer clocking up a few miles and some new locations. In July we spent a week down on the Devon coast staying at a couple of lovely dog friendly hotels where Tilly got lots of attention and enjoyed refreshing walks on the coastal paths and romps on a few of the quieter beaches. In September we took trips to the Yorkshire coast and the Lake District to give her a change of scenery.

She’s lost a couple of pounds and been to the groomers so she’s looking very trim at the moment.

On the whole she walks very well, although the increase in squirrel activity as we go into the autumn causes her some consternation. She’s a bit of a chaser and charges around yelping and squeaking as she looks up all the trees to see where the furry critters have disappeared to! We’ve now bought a harness which seems to have calmed her down a bit when she’s walking on the lead.

Tilly never misses a trick around the house, you can’t creep off to do a job or put the kettle on without finding her standing right behind you! She seems happy and has settled into her routine and we’re looking forward to the Christmas break and getting out and about for some extra walks.

We were really delighted to find out she’s made it into the CAESSR 2017 Calendar and will be putting our order in shortly.

Kind Regards.

Becky

Tigger is settling in very well, getting plenty of walking every day, she's well and truly got her feet under the table now.

Kids loving take her for walks along the canal where she runs her heart out and goes for the odd swim.

She is a great all round dog, Thanks to the previous owner and yourselves for letting her join us. I've added couple of pics for you. Thanks

Thanks

Andy

Hello Di,

Percy appears to be settling in well, he is a cheeky chappy and is learning his new boundaries. He has met some new friends in the form of two springers (Ollie and milo) who are showing him how to be well behaved. However he is fast little thing and keeps them both on their toes when chasing a ball.

He has visited the beach and loves the water, he was straight in splashing around!

He spent this afternoon in the garden before a big long walk in the woods with his new friends who showed him where all the best smells were.

We are looking into agility training for Percy but first think he needs a little more work on his obedience.

He is such a happy little boy and is making a wonderful addition to our family. Thank you Caessr for helping us find our fury new friend.

Best wishes

Hi All!

Charlie definitely has his feet under the table. When we have people round he can normally be found under the table waiting for anything that might fall off the table. We have discovered that he has a love of hummus and Chinese take aways, amongst many other things!

He used to sleep all day when we got him, but now has more energy and is awake more during the day. Evening sees Charlie and Nell asleep together, usually bum to bum on the sofa.

Ian and I recently had a week away, and the dogs stayed at home with Anna. She enjoyed their company, and now Charlie is much happier with her, instead of ignoring her all the time. When we returned, however, he went absolutely crazy, danced around me in circles, giving tiny nips of pleasure.

He has decided he now owns us, and when we go out on walks we can let him off the lead. He leads the way, but turns round to keep an eye on us, and make sure we don't get lost. He has learnt that if he turns, and we are standing still making circles with our fingers, it means it is time to turn round and go home. He then runs back quickly and leads the way back.

His hair has grown back after his shave for X-rays, and is lovely and wavy. He loves getting wet in the rain, and then adores being towelled down. He loves having his ears played with, but becomes anxious if you touch his back, so cuddles involve a lot of eye contact. We have realised that as well as being deaf, Charlie also finds it hard to see very well. At the moment we are not too sure if this will get worse. However, he doesn't let it get in the way of life.

Charlie's favourite hobby is helping clean out the bins in the different rooms, especially if there is an ice cream or chocolate wrapper in them. He also loves to help with yoghurt pots, and will clean them out in next to no time.

The biggest problem we have is Charlie's continuous eating of grass. We are not to sure how to discourage this, and think this is the reason he gets so much mucous in his throat, and why he coughs so much. Any ideas gratefully received!

Sally, Ian and Anna.

Hello!

Me and my family adopted tess in March 2014. We have never looked back. When we first got her she couldn’t eat from a bowl or be let off the lead. After a couple of months she got used to us and is the most loving kind dog ever. Her companion our other Springer Woody has taken to her well and she has finally taken to him. She is now fully off the lead and always comes back to us where as with previous owners she never used to come back and she would always escape, with us she doesn’t seem to want to escape she just wants to be loved!

Dear Ian

Just an email to say I have had Meg (Megan) nearly four years now and never a day goes by without me feeling so very lucky to have her.

She is always the biggest personality of anyone I know! Got through two huge slipped disc operations and now just loves being out walking in the fields. Last night we were eating blackberries off the hedge and if there are none at low level I have to pick them off and feed her a few. (5 max any day).

Thank you

Judy

We’re absolutely delighted to say that Fudge has settled in extremely well. When he first got here, he had a very busy time, dashing round to get acquainted with house and garden. Then he had a drink of water, and settled down. For the first few nights, after he went to bed, I stayed on the top landing listening for any sounds of distress, but all was quiet. He has been eating well, and enjoying his walks (still on the lead). He has made acquaintance with some of the local dogs, but seems fairly indifferent. Perhaps that will change when he can be off the lead and they can play chase together.

We have an appointment with the vet on Wednesday afternoon. We’ve had fun in the garden, with Come and Fetch (treats involved !). Fudge is so loving and affectionate, and can stand any amount of tickling under the chin. He has also discovered the delights to be discovered when I’m loading the dishwasher. He is very confident about jumping into the car – no crate involved. All in all, a delight to have around.

Thank you so much for letting us have him.

All best wishes,

Sheila and Andy

Hi Ian and Di

Just wanted to say a massive thank you for finding Dexter what looks like a lovely home it has been one of the hardest decisions to make and our home is a quiet home without him you never realise how much they impact your life but he was a beautiful natured dog and I'm sure will be a very welcome addition to his new family.

I am so grateful for your help and website as seeing Dexter happy and looking content and relaxed with his new family although hard has eased our minds and instead of sad tears they were happy ones to see him with Merlin and his new family as we knew that was the life he deserved.

I appreciate all your help and look forward to seeing what else Dexter and your other spaniels get up to. Thank you so much I will be forever grateful for you and all your volunteers and especially Dexters new family for giving Dexter the perfect home a home he deserves, we miss him tremendously but know we did the right thing after seeing the beautiful photographs.

Love

Dexters old family The Bowns xx

Hi Ian and Di,

Thanks for the microchip record.

It is now 2 weeks since we came up to Stoke on Trent to meet Pepsi!

Just a quick update to let you know how well Pepsi (aka Pepe) is doing! He is settling in well and now starting to come out of his shell a bit more, loves a fuss and is starting to play with his toys. He is keen to learn and we are making good progress with basic commands in the garden. He can now "sit", "wait" and "come"! We will be starting dog training classes this week! Although initially he was quite nervous about going out in the garden or going for walks (and would even "freeze" for no apparent reason), he is now gets excited when his lead comes out! As we suspected he is very sociable with other dogs but can take a little time to get used to new people.

He has become part of our family and is loved! It has been a rewarding experience so far and we thank you for trusting us to adopt him.

Many thanks

Kind regards

Karen and Adrian
