Happy Christmas CAESSR!

My friend Rupert has just gone home after a sleep-over and I'm catching up on my sleep! The other pics of me and my Christmas pressy (I think!).
Love to all,
Patch.
Hi folks – it’s me Barney
Just thought I would like to send Christmas greetings and best wishes to Chris and Anne, my old mate Max and his new owners and all at CAESSR.
I was pleased to read that Max had settled in well – didn’t take him long to get his feet under the table !! But, I’m really pleased to know we are both doing well.
My visit to the shampoo parlour went well. There was a minor complaint from the lady – I showered them with water because my tail wouldn’t stop wagging!
I’ve had a small problem this week. Himself noticed I was licking my paw and had a look; he found a little infection. The vet reckons I knocked it on a stone or something and a bit of dirt got in. So, I’m having a pudding after my meals at the moment. It’s a tiny splodge of yogurt to disguise antibiotic pills. Vet says it will be gone in 2/3 days.
The vet was pleased with my weight loss; I’m 2/3 of the way to target and there has been a confirmed sighting of a waistline. Not pinching Maxs’ food has helped a lot. The vet wasn’t expecting to see me again so soon after our initial introduction and he offered me a loyalty card as I looked like being a good customer.
No further problems with foxes; now getting 10/10.
Thinking of you all.
Barney
Hello all at Caessr
Thanks for your best wishes and we hope you all have a good time celebrating what you have achieved in providing new homes for spaniels and giving the previous owners the confidence their loved ones are being looked after as they had done in different circumstances.
Christmas greetings from France. Jamie has been having fun in this mild weather we've been experiencing. Lots of walks in fields (he's not too keen on the big cows), around the lakes (he quite likes the ducks) and absolutely loves the muddy puddles and ditches (which I don't as the cleaning up afterwards is a job I have inherited courtesy of hubby!) We had him cut very short before we left UK but haven't had to put his tartan fleecy coat on which is good. Although I think he may have felt the need to have some protection as you will see from the attached photo.

He wraps his Dad around his little finger (paw), he knows he's a soft touch but I'm a bit stricter (not that it makes any difference at certain times) and he has such a lovely temperament. A joy to live with. Will travel anywhere, always wants to be with us, not keen on staying on his own.

IT S CHRISTMAS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hi everyone, Ted here, just wanted to wish everyone at CAESSR a Happy Christmas and a healthy and happy New Year. That includes all the trustees, volunteers and all the owners of the dogs who came through CAESSR like me and of course all the dogs.
I have been in my forever home now for two years (Dec 17th ) and have a great time with my Mum, we have had as usual a busy time since I last wrote. Very sadly my big sister Jess became suddenly very poorly, and crossed the bridge in October. We all miss her a lot and she used to keep Jake and I in order for Mum. Mum has found us a new sister who is six months old and liver and white. Her name is Pepper and she belonged to a lady who found that Pepper s energy levels were maybe on the high side. Personally I think they are about right so we are now teaching her about farm life. I do my best to help Mum and teach Pepper lots of games like tug of war and now I am not the youngest I can win !!! Yipee !!! I was very jealous in one of the letters to see snow, so looking forward to a bit of that myself, but would like to put in a request that this time it is made a bit warmer.

Here are some pictures of me in the autumn. Mums son Richard did a bit of running round the fields in the evenings which I helped with, he is nowhere as quick as me but not a bad attempt I suppose.
Got to go time to have breakfast then busy as it is a windy day lots of bits of straw will need chasing.
Lots of licks to everyone
Ted
Hello Diane and John,
It's Domino here, you kindly found a new home for me in July.
I settled in very quickly with Mum and Dad in sunny Cheshire, we go on lots of walks through the fields and lanes where there are lots things for me to sniff and puddles to get muddy in, (I enjoy this very much).
When I'm back home I have my garden or my favourite chair to relax in.

We sometimes visit Gran and Granddad in Stoke where I play with Wally the Whippet in the garden. If I'm lucky we go down to Norfolk where there are huge stubble fields for me to play in.
Dad and I entered a scurry at the Cheshire Game Fair and Dad retrieved the dummy very well for me. I think he is training me to go and fetch it myself next time. We'll see.....
Thank you so much for finding Mum and Dad for me. As you can see from the pictures I'm very happy and settled in my home. I will write to you again soon to tell you what new adventures I've been on

Belle enjoying first Welsh snow. She is loving her busy active new life.
It has been lovely to see her true personality come out over the past 5 months. She is a confident, playful, loving dog who charms everyone she meets (apart from yappy dogs!!)
As well as long country walks, socialising etc she goes to Agility classes and is now a dab hand at it. She is extremely lively and we have lots of fun together.
Thank you for including her in your calendar which is of impressive quality. You do a grand job and its lovely to know there are people out there who can give these lovely animals the life they deserve. We will continue to support you as much as possible. At present we are sponsoring young George.
Thank you again and very best wishes
from Ros,Brian and Belle xx
Hi John & Di,
We collected Max a week last Saturday and he has settled in wonderfully, he is a real credit to his previous owners who must miss him very much.
He travels well in the car. his recall is good, he walks well on the lead. When he finds the opportunity he will run off with our shoes, but brings them back when told.
He loves being brushed and enjoys long walks, and his manners and behaviour in the house is excellent and really laid back for a springer.
Has seen our vet and everything was ok.
Many thanks to you and your team for all your help in finding us a special dog
Kind regards
Angela.

Hi John
We have had Rosie for 2 weeks now and she has got her paws well and truly under the table. The first evening she climbed right into her new bed and seemed to settle immediately, in fact she was so good for the first 2 or 3 days we were wondering if she was just putting us at ease before trying it on! She has been an absolute delight since then and seems to have no vices at all, apart from the cocker spaniel continuous hunt for any items of unattended food left in her vicinity!

She is a real credit to her previous owners and is a joy to have around as she is so affectionate. She is fine with my daughters male cocker and they get on great together. Here's looking forward to some good weather and some long walks.
Best regards

Hi John,
I collected Woody a week last Saturday – since then he has settled in really well. My Mom and I have fallen for him – hook, line and sinker (I think that’s how the saying goes!) He is such a joy to have around and my Granddad is loving the time he spends with him. My niece and nephew spent the weekend with us and they absolutely adore Woody. Woody has really taken to them well.
We have two walks a day and longer on the weekends. Woody also has two large gardens to run around in - as I currently live next door to my Granddad. I am looking forward to taking him to the seaside when the weather warms up!

Woody is a huge credit to his previous owners – his training and recall are absolutely fab! :-)
Woody says hi to Freya (and family) and thanks them all for the lovely pictures.
I have attached a couple of picture of Woody to this email. I wasn’t sure whether you would be able to display them on your website or not?? If not, would you mind sending them on to Woody’s previous owners?
Kind regards
Sarah
Dear Di,
I have scoured CAESSR’s website everyday for news of Barney and Max and have been rewarded with a fabulous letter from Barney’s new owners. If you have an opportunity please pass on our very sincere thanks.
Chris and I have been bereft at losing our boys and knowing they have found such good homes has been a huge comfort to us.
Again many thanks to you and your team and huge thanks to the new owners of Max and Barney, both dogs are so deserving of a new lease of life, but I do miss them so.
Regards
Anne
Hi Folks – it’s me Barney
Obviously, I was sorry to have to leave my friends and home and move to Hereford but I have been so busy I haven’t been allowed time to dwell on it; they take me everywhere with them. I went to see the vet. He said “Barney, my friend, you have a very good heart”. “That’s me, I said, big hearted Barney”. “The trouble is though Barney, you’ve also got a big belly and that is not good as you get older”. I weighed in at nearly 27Kg and he wants to see me around 24Kg. He may not have been properly qualified or the scales were wrong, but I’m on slightly less food and they are looking for a slow reduction.
I have tons of walks. I’ve spent a lot of time this week learning to walk to heel without pulling. I’ve heard him tell his missus I’m a pretty quick learner. He’s not too generous with tit bits – more praise, pats and cuddles. I might learn even quicker if he lobbed me a custard tart or a couple of oatcakes. But we play lots of ball games as well. This week we are going to work more on recalls, and then I shall be allowed to run off the lead.
We’ve got a park here and the first day I was a bit worried. There were some of the biggest dogs I have ever seen- and some had horns. They are in a huge fenced area. Himself says they are a big breed of dog called deer! Now I’m used to them and take no notice.
I hear I’m scheduled to see a nice lady this week who is going to give me a bath and brush up. This has nothing to do with me rolling in fox mess yesterday as it was pre-booked.
Her/himself have been very impressed with my manners and behaviour in the house. I heard them say I had been trained well. In fact they have given me 9/10 this week. That b----- fox cost me!
Gotta go – getting dark – one more walk to do.
Regards to all
Barney
Dear Di and John

Just a note to say Alfie has settled very well and enjoying his life on the boat. We go exploring 3/4 times a day either a stroll around the lakes on the lead, play ball in the fields or a run through the woods to sniff out the rabbits. He is more than happy to sleep on his cushions, and loves to sit on the back of the boat watching the world go by and of course attracting passing boaters as they go up and down the jetty keen to fuss and the occasional treat when I am not looking.
His appetite is good and no mishaps in the toilet department, I have only left him for max an hour so far and plenty of neighbors keeping an eye through the window and always found him fast asleep.
Alfie's future health and well being - We have opened a file with the cardiologist who will see him in the future and is registered with the vets and has an appointment Monday with the nurse as an introduction.
Myself and Alan are looking forward to taking him out on the boat to enjoy canal life which does include tow path bbq's and pub lunches with long walks to explore new areas. We like to take short breaks away and Alan has been making a list around the country of hotels that accommodate dogs, and some seaside based so he can again enjoy the beach.
New years day is already planned - a walk around Dove Dale.
Hope this gives you all a little insight to what has happened to Alfie since Monday, so please pass on to Lissa that Alfie will have a wonderful life and be well cared for.
Kind regards
Sue
