Hello Di and John
We have now had Kalli for 7 weeks so a quick update.
She is still very nervous in some situations, such as doorways and waving arms about, but is now settling in well as a member of the family. She has explored most of the downstairs now. Our rooms interconnect with each other and she likes to go around in a circuit. She starts off in the dining room and into the kitchen to the far end where there is a door into the lounge, then back through the lounge and into the dining room, or the other way round. She could also include from the lounge into the study and then the hall and back into the dining room but she is not keen on the study and hall yet, probably as there is quite a bit of furniture in there and the hall is not very big, but she has done it.
She had a very busy few days a couple of weeks ago, firstly my sister came to visit and whilst we were talking Kalli got up and went over to her for cuddles without prompting and later that day Mike’s singing partner came to see her and she went straight to her for a tummy rub. My step daughter came to stay for a few days on her way back to NZ and again, she was really good with her. One of Kate’s friends came round one day and she was straight in for cuddles. She hasn’t had any male visitors yet, but hope she will be the same with them.
Mike is still sleeping downstairs with her as she is happy with someone (or Luke) with her. Unfortunately Luke likes to sleep upstairs which is what he is used t, so Mike has the short straw. We managed to fit a single bed in the bay window and she sleeps on a fleece bed next to him.

We have built up the time the two of them (Luke and Kalli) are at home alone to just over an hour and she is fine with that. They are getting on well. They run around the garden together and she follows him around.
She has just about grasped the idea of house training now and is eating well and out of a dish standing up in the kitchen alongside Luke.
The thing we are still having a problem with is getting her to take to having a lead put on. She just lies down and won’t get up. It is the same with the harness. We are concentrating on working on this now.
We had to tale her to the surgery last week and Mike had to carry her. She had a funny toe growth with a nail seemingly growing under the other, so the Vet had to poke about a lot and clip it out. She was ok to start with but it became more painful as it got closer to the nail bed. She is back to normal now but was a bit wary of us for a little while.
She is a little darling though and her personality is coming out. I think she could be quite cheeky when she relaxes more.
Best wishes
Linda and Mike
